On This Day In History Joseph Stalin Died & related T-Shirts

For March 5th, at Tcritic we recall a controversial historical icon in life and death – Joseph Stalin, who died on March 5, 1953. Makes sense that someone as notorious as Stalin would spawn an explosion of t-shirts bearing his image. Interesting to see how a cultural revolution turned into a fashion icon – imagine wearing a t-shirt in the 1960s bearing communist propaganda!

Before we get to the oldies (and goodies), a more recent addition to my collection of communist themed shirts is from Headline Shirts, I Hammer/Sickle the 80s.

I’d rate the next 3 t-shirts my favourite communist t-shirts ever, in order of amazingness. Because of the magnitude of amazingness, i have already blogged about them – consider this a tribute post.

1.) RTMF Mao – wrote about this in 2006 but they are publicizing a reprint soon

2.) The Real Chairman Meaow

3.) The Communist Party

New Patagonia Organic Cotton T-Shirts

Patagonia

Patagonia is one of my favorite companies in the world, seriously, they totally rock, amazing quality, great attitude, great service. I’ve bought a fair amount of outdoor gear from them for snowboarding and hiking and it’s always super well made stuff. Anyway, now their doing a line of organic cotton T-Shirts.

Our T-shirts are made with 100% organic cotton and are garment-washed for softness. They’re built to last with taped shoulder seams and double-stitched sleeves and hem. Our surf tees (shown above) have a slim fit and feature the artwork of Geoff McFetridge. All Patagonia organic T-shirts are recyclable through our Common Threads Recycling Program ‚Äě sends us yours when it’s no longer wearable.

5 New Katamari Damacy T-Shirts From Panic

The only officially licensed Katamari Damacy T-shirts are sold by a small mac software development shop named Panic Software, I just got a note this morning that they have 5 new shirts. Apart from the new designs they’ve also added some printing innovations like “shiny” and “fuzzy”, i’ve included an image from both types:

Enjoy, and keep on rolling :-)

More T Vicar – Best Name For a T-Shirt Store Ever

More t VicarProbably the best name for a T-Shirt store i’ve seen, I love it. Not only that but it’s a store that includes local artists creations, every month they commission exclusive designs from local talent and limit the designs to 100 items. You can see all the design in the area of the site they call “the collective“.

The designer Mr Bingo emailed me telling me about the store, and here’s one of his designs.

Are you a mix tape ninja? Mens version here.

Heavenly Devily from Invidualitees

Heavenly/Devily

Another nice design from Individualitees.com (I wrote about them once before about Sex On a Stick which was smoking hot :-) They really have got some great designs, and considering the company was started by two guys in two different countries via email, it looks a damn site better than most, and with a lot more original designs. As usual my only complaint is i there are no permalinks/deep-links for any of the designs, which is frustrating if your trying to link to favorites.

BTW I love their line of Sexualitees:

Keep up the good work guys and thanks for the nice note :-)

Shaolinen launches HTML site for Non-Ninja’s

Shaolinen Lonewolf

This is the Shaolinen Lone Wolf t-shirt, and I’m posting again about these guys because I dinged them last time for there beautiful but hard to navigate flash site. Well in a matter of weeks they turned around a really good looking html site, not only that, they put their stuff on sale. So go check them out :-)

RED PANDA

I want to thank everyone who’s been emailing me pics of t-shirts, I’m getting to see some great t’s that I might not find tooling around on my own.

This one is from Christian at Alive Shirts, he is an illustrator/designer who sells t-shirts with his illustrations of endangered species on them, and gives 10% of the profits to the WWF (no not the wrestling, the World Wildlife Fund :-)

Not only is it a good cause, they are really great designs.

This one’s on the red panda .

The red panda resembles a raccoon in size and appearance. It lives in mountain forests with a bamboo understory. Red pandas almost exclusively eat bamboo. The red panda is found in a mountainous band from Nepal through northeastern India and Bhutan and into China, Laos and northern Myanmar. It is rare and continues to decline. The major threats to red pandas are loss and fragmentation of habitat due to deforestation and poaching for the pet and fur trades.

Oddica T-Shirt Schwag

Thanks Oddica, you are “this weeks best company ever” :-)

Oddica sent me the sweet Ping Pong Vader Shirt and the very cool Exploded Turn Table Shirt.

Seriously though, the thing I like about Oddica is it’s essentially an artists co-operative and the artists behind the shirts own 41% of the company, keep it up guys.
