Owl Moops 01

The Great Moop Battle” of Occasional Intruders
I couldn’t imagine a better name for Owl Movement’s latest series of 4 awesome new tee designs.

Occasional Intruders is the fifth series of Tees put out by the Florida based company since the summer of ‘05. I dig Owl Movement for their self described; “tongue in cheek adorable” designs and attitude -even if they do have a “crappy” name :o.

I also effing LOVE that Owl Movement is the brain child of two now 27 year old grad students. Way to take a great idea and make it work, kids.

Onto the shirts:

The Great Moop Battle” by Simon Noynay rocks; the design and color scheme just really does it for me and I love how it’s a sort of part two to Noynay’s Threadless T simply titled “The Moops“.

I like knowing that I can keep up with the tiny life of a creature that exists only on T shirts, unfortunately in the Owl Movement update of the saga it appears that The Moops may not survive a voracious attack by a much larger version of themselves. How lovely.

There’s a great theme of self destruction as a result of becoming too big or too powerful in this design. The origins of Moop life appears to have sprung from the skull of some forgotten beast, but in the great battle the cutesy, maggot-like creatures are thriving on a mountain range type place with a super huge version of themselves in full attack mode, I have to say those little Moops look like they put up a good fight.

You go, little Moops! I’m on your side, overcome, thrive and be merry little cutesy, maggot things!

Originally I was drawn to Owl Movements by “Scuba Platypus“, I like the color combo and the great textured print for the main portions of the design, though when it came down to it I really thought it looked like something I could pick up at urban outfitters, and that’s just not my gig. (still, the tee is Very Cool)

You should totally check out the entire series, including; “if you want to find us, this is where we are“. I have to say I feel like there’s something out of place in this design, I can’t quite put my finger on it but it doesn’t effect me enough to not want to wear it….maybe it’s the lack of genitals.

Last but not least there’s “Meat me Inside“, though it’s a great concept there’s just too much going on in this shirt for my tastes and it’s orange, which makes pale Irish girls (like yours truly) look like…well…paler Irish girls. BUT if I was a dude, I’d rock it.

If you didn’t checked out Owl Movement back in the days of series two when “Ninja Dreams” was a hot seller, then you should before series six or seven when they actually DO get picked up by some massive retail juggernaut. (that’s a backwards compliment, I’m trying to say they’re cool)

FYI: Simon Noynay has some pretty amazing designs out there, specifically on Huskworks, but we’ll discuss that in a bit.

Did you notice “Zut Alors!” at Huskworks?
    The little guys are winning!
I think the caption says “Are you drunk? Please stop spitting on me when you speak!”

  2. there are more than just two moops tshirts around! there’s on at funkrush.com (currently on sale too) and i’m sure i’ve seen a couple more… i’ll try and retrace my steps or something and find them for you.
