Dirty Microbe Scam – Customers and Partners Getting Ripped off

It seems that Dirty Microbe, a t-shit company, is ripping off both their customers and partners. Troundup, Rangga at T-shirt Island, are reporting that customers are getting ripped off and they are. Calamity Jane is also reporting on this, and there is a digg story getting dugg so go digg it. Oh, and I don’t think these are the rantings of competitors in the comments, two of these are bloggers that I trust.

I don’t know why i’m so late to this game because it seemed to start getting reported in June, if someone had pinged me earlier I totally would have been there.

We need to stick together, that goes for companies that do a great job, and bloggers who are writing about this stuff :-)

I was ripped off too! I ordered two t-shirts this past summer and never got them. I thought it was because I live in Finland and the postage will take longer … which in some cases does, but it’s been like FOREVER and I’ve yet to see any shirts.

I first ordered the t-shirts May 9 and received a confirmation email. On May 11 I got an e-mail that they’d received my PayPal money. At the end of May I e-mailed them and asked them where my T-shirts were and they said that they’d probably gotten lost in the mail and they’d send them to me again. I never heard back from them again.

It’s September now and I’ve yet to receive my t-shirts! NOT COOL. NOT cool, man! From hence forth I’ll be sticking with bigger companies like Threadless … companies that I know won’t shaft me, man!

Wow, no kidding Elisa, I’m getting more pissed of by the minute. Fuck those guys. I hate the fact that I’ve posted about those guys, i’m just glad when customer speak up and we can help spread the word there.

I never really liked Dirty Microbe, but this shit is even more terrible because you’ll see people writing stuff in the comments like “I’m only going to order from big companies that I know won’t rip me off from now on” and stuff. Fuck those guys.

Hey David, Seibei has a great reputation and great gear, i don’t think you have any worries.

I’m in sock! I can’t believe I’ve never heard about this earlier. At least I haven’t posted about these guys for a while now…. but still, knowing that I’ve encouraged in the past my readers to buy from them? It feels like I’ve betrayed them! And I feel betrayed to! This is so disappointing… and I need to inform my readers asap.
Thanks for getting it out there Karl.

Interesting. They offered free tees for a contest on my blog. One person complained about not receiving them, but we wrote it off as because of a free contest. I guess it’s part of a much bigger issue.

I know Christian was on vacation in Europe during the summer. That seemed to be when the SNAFU started.

  7. Josh says:

    I second David’s comment. What a-holes.

  8. Laura says:

I think it’s also a shame because Dirty Microbe sent out tees to a bunch of people to get publicity for themselves. So they got us to write about them and then took everyone’s money. I feel like a pawn in their scheme.

Yup! I almost got ripped off by dirty microbe, they charged my cc & never sent the shirt! I would call, I emailed & they answered w/ a bunch of plausible excuses… late t-shirt shipment which delayed printing, as a result a tremendous backlog in shipping out the shirt… then all of a sudden their phones were disconnected! Meanwhile, that was when I saw the charges to my card, this was in July. Good news, my cc company spoke directly w/ their bank & had the charges reverse & my cc credited.

yeah – I wonder what Christian’s actual involvement in all of this is? Like, I’d kill to actually be able to get the word from him on what’s up, because according to some people, he’s claiming that he left the company before all of this started going down, and would then say something about “going to bust some heads” to get whoever’s shirt shipped, but of course nothing happened. I wonder if he just left things in the wrong hands, or he was just looking to pass the buck when speaking directly to customers?

over on Hide Your Arms, someone who’s friends with the founders posted a comment on Andy’s Dirty Microbe article – apparently, they just went under. It’s worth reading.

  14. Dana says:

Yeah…totally bought 3 shirts from them…they happily charged my credit card but I’ve yet to receive anything and that was in July. No response to any of my emails or letters. Sucks. :(
