Desi Wear Indian and Bollywood Themed T-Shirts 01Nov07

There is something extraordinarily cool about these shirts from Desi Wear, they are the clothing equivalent of the hit song from Panjabi MC that mashed up the Knight Rider theme with traditional bhangra music. Here’s a couple of my favs.

Even better than 70′s retro t-shirts are 70′s retro tees from other countries, this is super cool.

On a side note I would love to go to India, it’s in my top ten places I want to visit. I’m very interested in the culture and the food. I’ve even attempted cooking Indian food from scratch although not easy, when you do get something right the results are very impressive.

Of course my other favorite “desi” inspired Indian T-shirt company is Chor Bazaar, I featured them back in August, if you missed them check them out

    I’m not Indian but now I know what to get my Indian friends. They are actually pretty cool designs and I’m loving the vintage style. Nice find Karl.

    i went to India this spring and was desperately looking for a tee shirt with writing in hindi (or another non-latin character language). Came home empty-handed. The fact is that 1) Indian people wear button-downs, not tee shirts. 2) The tee shirts i did find were covered with western brands – adidas, puma, reebok, etc. I had a similar problem in Denmark and Stockholm – all tee shirts I found were in English.

    so…does anybody want to make me a tee shirt? I’m not too picky, just tired of English.

    awesome find Karl…definitely some cool designs! And I would have to agree with Aslinth… non-english tees are hard to come by, even overseas. I’m trying to reach that market…so Aslinth, if you read this, let me know what you would want and I’ll see what I can do about either designing, or getting someone to design some stuff for you =)

    You guys should take a look at http://www.gnome.in. I have some of my designs on display there as well. :) But its an awesome site and the collection of designs is really good.

    The interface could be better though. Take a look.

    Those are sick designs. South Asian themed apparel is also one of the specialties of the Kamranistan Clothing Company.. Its good to see others coming out with original Desi designs.
