CommonThreadz.org is a non profit that for every t-shirt sold provides a school uniform for orphan or vulnerable child in the developing world. All of their t-shirts are high quality, hand numbered limited editions, printed on high quality Alternative Apparel. Apart from providing kids school uniforms any additional funds go to support another non-profit, in this case the Environmental and Energy Study Institute.

I certainly didn’t know the importance of school uniforms in some developing areas

Chances are you did not know that in many developing countries not having a school uniform means that you are not allowed to go to school, or that by not having one you wear the stigma of having AIDS.

Here’s the info on this t-shirt:

Limited-Edition [250]
Individually numbered.
Printed on high-end
Alternative Apparel

Artist: Matthew Curry

Benefiting Nonprofit:
In addition to giving a school uniform to a child in need for each t-shirt sold, this design is raising awareness & funds for: Environmental and Energy Study Institute

Commonthreadz also organizes trips to the areas they are supporting, I really like the idea of doing something like this.

CommonThreadz organizes international trips throughout the year for volunteers to deliver school uniforms and to provide much needed assistance at schools and orphanages during the volunteer trip. Our next trip will be to the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa in November of ‘08. The travel dates are currently being finalized. Thre cost of the 7 day trip is $1,500 (does not include international airfare to Africa). A deposit of $450 is required. If you are intested in joining us please email trips[@]commonthreaz.org

Volunteering abroad is a great way to spend time within another culture, to become part of a new community and to experience life from a different perspective. Contact us for more information on how to participate in an unforgettable experience by volunteering abroad to aid humanity.
