T-Shirt & Hoodie Fashion Show This Friday August 15th

This looks like it will be a fun event, and combine the free vodka, an Americas Top Chef contestant cooking some treats, charity support $10 is not bad for a cool event on a Friday night.

Location: Apartment 24
440 Broadway St, San Francisco, CA 94133
Doors: 9pm Runway: 11pm

944 Magazine presents a bold new fashion show & runway concept from “LADY NOIR,” The event will begin at 9:00pm at one of the cities hottest new venues: Apartment 24 (440 Broadway – North Beach) and will feature a complimentary vodka tasting sponsored by award winning Snow Queen Vodka (Double Gold Winner – Best of Vodka Category – SF World Spirits Competition 2008), along with special appetizers created by Ryan Scott, executive chef of Mission Beach Café and contestant on “Top Chef.”

The event promises to attract some of the sexiest fashion forward people the city has to offer and will be photographed and filmed by 944 magazine, and co-hosted by SF Station and Bad Kitty productions (the team behind the 2007 trunk show series at 111 Minna Gallery). Music will be provided by DJ David Carvalho, whom has graced the turn tables at many of the top venues in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas & Miami.

A portion of the proceeds will go to MADRE, an international women’s rights group “demanding human rights for women and families around the world.”

Chillin’ Productions Saturday August 2nd at 111 Minna, SF

If you are in SFO mark your calenders for Chillin’ Productions for clothing, fashion, design, art and live music at 111 Minna, San Francisco. This is always a great event and I always find new stuff there so it’s totally worth checking out, it’s much more of a party atmosphere than a lot of the events that sell crafts etc. and seeing as it’s been going on for 10 years I think they have the formula down, there is of course the dynamo Irena Hernandez behind it as well which I’m sure is one of the secrets of their success. Check out my previous write up of the show.

Last time I was at the show I met these beautiful divas from Beefy Rouge (unfortunately they are still working on their web site)

Chillin Productions Redux

Chillin Productions was over a week ago and I owe it a write up. By far one of the best fashion/design/art event i’ve been too. The art was so high quality and diverse, the clothing and t-shirts were awesome and unique, and other features like live screen printing and the 10 DJ’s made it an afternoon/evening to remember. I met Irene Hernandez-Feiks who founded Chillin’ Productions at a party the week before and after that experience had to check it out because she is an amazing character (she was even DJ’ing some of the event).

I met lots of great people there and have to tell you that is becoming one of the funnest parts of writing this blog, going out and meeting the people behind the designs. There is so much going on in the indie fashion and t-shirt world things are very exciting.

Wear Me Naked

I loved Wear Me Naked, these are all hand painted and sewn shirts, with awesome designs and quirky condom pockets (they also do underwear with the condom pocket, sweet)

Indie Industries

I was also a big fan of what Indie Industries was doing. These guys are an artists collaborative which sell all kinds of indie merchandise with real stores. The stores in fact are probably best characterized as cool and authentic, kind of what Urban Outfitters wishes it could be. (I saw a much wider selection of stuff in person than I do on their site) so it might be worth checking out the store. They are at 2003 Milvia St. @ University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704 open Tues – Sat 12-7, Sun 12-5, closed Mon. Don’t believe me, check out their 5 star reviews on Yelp :-)

Tcritic Secret Word Comment Competition $525 Threadless Gift Certificate Give Away

Hey everyone, i’m having a little competition over the next month where I am going to give away a total of 21 threadless $25 gift certificates. Basically every day or so I will post a secret word in one of my blog posts on Tcritic like this: the secret word is “banana” and the first person to make a comment on that post with the secret word will win the gift certificate (providing you fill in a proper email address in the field when you leave the comment). See this post for example.

I will also be throwing in some bonus certificates by posting a secret word to twitter and the winner will be the first person to leave a comment on the post that the secret word twitter post is linking to.

Oh and feel free to share this on your blogs and other forums, if this works out well i’ll try and figure out some other fun games to play with Threadless bucks, and maybe even some other t-shirt companies might step up to provide some fun prizes :-)

Vegas Update

Hey everyone, i’ve had a lot of interest and a lot of comments from folks about the Vegas party, and even some offers of sponsorship from a few companies including Seibei, Design By Humans, 2Smart Monkeys, t-shirt forums, and Gunslinger design plus a couple of others via email. Well I think i’ve got to scale back my ambitions a little bit as work is totally overwhelming me right now (yes I have a full time job), and i think a month was too short a time to try and organize this in a remote city. That being said i am planning on being in Vegas on November 3rd, and plan on being at the Mix Lounge in the Mandalay Bay between 8 and 10 on saturday night so if you swing by and introduce your self I will certainly buy you a couple of drinks, hows that sound :-) Lets call it a t-shirt happy hour (although Mix says no “sleeveless shirts” so no wife beaters).
