Threadbanger and Twitter Scavenger Hunt at Makers Faire SF

Just got this email from the awesome folks at Threadbanger about a scavenger hunt they’re going to be running with Twitter on sunday at the Makers Faire this Sunday in San Francisco. The Makers Faire is a wonderful DIY extravaganza full of wonderful creative oddities and wonders.

I wanted to let you know that the first-ever Threadbanger Twitter Scavenger Hunt is happening this weekend, May 31st, at the Maker Faire in San Francisco. Here’s the details:

Threadbanger hosts Rob and Corinne will be attending the world-renowned Maker Faire this weekend with tweets on. Ten ambitious DIY fans in the area will have the opportunity to enter the faire and compete in an online, Twitter-activated scavenger hunt that takes them through some of the faire’s best stops and offers dozens of prizes along the way!

Gnarle T-Shirts and Amazing Shark Tattoo

Well Gnarlé just started following me on twitter so I went to check out their site and the first thing I came across was this shark tattoo someone had got on the stump of their arm, not sure if this was post shark attack but what an amazing tattoo. Oh, they have some t-shirts as well :)

New Crowdsourced Twitter T-Shirts from Threadless

Threadless is now bringing their community voting and t-shirt design chops to T-Shirts with it’s new Twitter.Threadless.com section on the site. All you do is go to the site, login (thankfully using OAuth) and you can submit your favorite tweets which then get voted on by the community, winning tweets then get a design treatment from the in-house creative team and you win $500, or if you are submiting someone else’s tweet you get $140 :) Very clever. Threadles has also created it’s own tiny url tool so you can link to your submissions, here’s one of mine http://thrdl.es/~/ac.

Tcritic Sponsoring A Go Game Fundraiser for Kiva.org

Kiva is an amazing organization that enables anyone to make small loans or microloans to entrepreneurs in the developing world providing the capital needed to start small businesses. I’m a huge supporter of this kind of program which provides independence, responsibility and autonomy to people as opposed to just charity. For this reason I’m using the funds from Tcritic’s advertising to cover $300 of the expenses of running the Go Game so more of the registration fees will go to Kiva. If you’re in SF please come and play the game, it’s a great experience, and if you can play, please chip in below so we can reach the $600 needed to cover all the expenses, thanks so much.

What: Go Game Community Game/Kiva.org FUNdraiser
When: Saturday, May 23 2-6pm
Where: SF neighborhood (sign up for specific meeting information)

Kiva.org is teaming up with the Go Game for a community game FUNdraiser Saturday, May 23, 2009. 100% of the profits will go to the Kiva Fellows Program to help provide training and financial assistance to our volunteer fellows working with MFI partners around the world.

The Go Game is an interactive high-tech game that takes place around a SF neighborhood. Teams compete to accomplish missions and have a TON of fun doing it. Without fail, these events provide outrageous, wacky missions, photos, videos and downright fun for all ages and interests! This fundraiser event promises to be a great way to have fun while helping the Kiva Fellows Program and getting to know others in the Kiva community.

If you live in the San Francisco area, please join us. Recruit your friends for a team to help Kiva or join an existing team and make new friends!
